Midlife women are in their Own Business Era: 25 for 25
For so many reasons, midlife women are in their Own Business Era.
I’m lucky to know many women who’ve left corporate culture, and are now building and scaling their own thing. Trademarking their IP, working solo or employing and contracting others.
During December, I’m publishing an alternative advent calendar featuring midlife women who’ve decided to be the boss of their own careers.
This series of posts, 25 for 25, features midlife women on the rise. Behind the next door on my alternative advent calendar is ecommerce ads specialist, Louise Beasley.
Ads for joyful brands: Louise Beasley
The beauty of being your own boss? You can opt to work with joyful brands. That’s exactly what Louise Beasley chooses to do. Louise is a Google and Meta Ads expert for ecomm businesses selling products that bring joy.
Louise uses her expertise to get her clients the best possible results from their ads, working with well-established brands, as well as SMEs just starting their digital ads journey.
So what counts as a joy-filled product? Louise works primarily with ecommerce brands in fashion, accessories and gifting.
Frustrated by how many brands target women in midlife, Louise works hard with her clients to do things differently. One of Louise’s favourites is her own client, Scamp & Dude.
“Scamp & Dude encapsulate the spirit of female power and community with a positivity that I just adore and that feels so empowering for women in midlife. Midlife can be such a powerful phase for women and marketing that taps into that strength, power and sense of a midlife community is a breath of fresh air.”
Like plenty of other midlife women I’ve profiled in this series, Louise’s career hasn’t followed a fixed path. She did stints in events management and fundraising before being drawn into digital ads. She names as a role model her boss and mentor when she worked at BAFTA - CEO Amanda Berry - who has gone on to work with The Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales.
“I was in my early 20s at the time and she gave me responsibility and confidence that set me on the path to where I am now. Amanda also really inspired me to help other women in business throughout my career.”
2025 is for …
Exciting growth! Louise plans to bring a team on board this year, so she can serve more clients.
Inspiration & motivation comes from …
Client results. Converting client ad spend into a healthy return is what gets Louise out of bed in the mornings. Louise only works with aligned clients selling products she would buy herself. She particularly loves working with other female founders.
Louise’s advice for her younger self
“My career has taken many turns I wasn't expecting. I used to worry about that, feeling inferior to those around me who had been in marketing for their whole working life. But now I fully embrace it and see it as my super power. I know the many facets of my career only add to my ability as an advertiser, because I bring so much diverse experience to the table. I think I would tell a younger me to worry a bit less about direction, to just enjoy the ride and the experiences along the way, without being so concerned about the destination. And to worry less about what others think!”
