Meet Minal Patel
Midlife women are in their Own Business Era: 25 for 25
For so many reasons, midlife women are in their Own Business Era.
I’m lucky to know many women who’ve left corporate culture, and are now building and scaling their own thing. Trademarking their IP, working solo or employing and contracting others.
During December, I’m publishing an alternative advent calendar featuring midlife women who’ve decided to be the boss of their own careers.
This series of posts, 25 for 25, features midlife women on the rise. Behind the next door on my alternative advent calendar is Minal Patel, email marketing expert behind a YouTube channel that’s already reached 10,000 small business owners.
email marketing expert: Minal Patel
Minal Patel is a great believer in email marketing as the low-cost digital tool that puts small businesses on a level playing field with bigger counterparts. That’s why she loves helping smaller service providers launch and grow their own newsletters, and figure out how to make email work for them.
The most significant moment in Minal’s road to self-employment happened when she was first made redundant. According to Minal, she pretty much fell apart. However, the experience left her with skills to deal with it better when it happened again in 2016. That's when Marketing by Minal was born. She now believes everything happens for a reason. That first redundancy was the path to her job with Constant Contact, which in turn became the route to what she’s doing now.
2025 is for …
Minal is focused on building her successful YouTube channel, Marketing by Minal, with more useful tutorials about email marketing. Her goal for 2024 was to reach 10,000 small businesses and educate them about email marketing. She’s already smashed that. Maybe next year she’ll aim for 15,000?
Inspiration & motivation comes from …
Small businesses. They’re at the heart of everything Minal does.
“No two are the same. There's a business out there selling stuff you didn't even know there was a market for. They’re strong, clever and always find a way.”
Minal’s advice for her younger self
“When I was a kid, I wanted to be a teacher. Well, I'm not working in a school, but teaching is a big part of what I do now. So, I'd tell her not to sweat it, we'll get to where we were supposed to be!”
